There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. We enjoy warmth because we have been cold. We appreciate light because we have been in darkness. By the same token, we can experience joy because we have known sadness! Well but the moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain!

New years are a chance for a beginning
Even when there hasn't been an end.
Wheels turn in an interminable bend,
Yet, marked in one spot, seem to wobble spinning

Here we have another new beginning,
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love,laugh and give!

This bright new year is given us
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
Our highest and best!

Another chance to be what we are not.
Praised be those who recognize the rot,
Portion out the guilt, and go on living.
Once more to right some wrongs!

Each year we hope to do a little better
Although we know that really nothing's changed.
Reason thinks that everything's arranged,
So we must dream if we would fate unfetter.-Hee Kah
